Oh yes, I am bold...

I am bold.
My hat is old.

I have a bird
I like to hold.

My shoe is off.
My foot is cold.

My shoe is off.
My foot is cold.

I have a bird
I liked to hold.

My hat is old.
I am bold.

And now
my story
is all told.

Hi there!

I actually responded to this subject a while back, but I must have goofed because I see it never appeared. So let me try again:

After many different techniques tried, I found a very easy way to cut a ping pong ball in half a few years ago. Take a hacksaw with a fine blade and turn it upside down so the blade is facing up. Then put the hacksaw into a vice and clamp it down tightly.

Now take your ping pong ball and hold it with both hands, one hand on each side. Carefully slide the ball along the edge of the hacksaw blade. Only slide in one direction, then pull it off and slide again (it is best to pull so make sure the blade teeth are facing the correct direction so the ball cuts as you pull).

As the ball begins to cut, just keep it in a straight line. Viola! You have a perfectly cut ping pong ball. The more you do it, the better you will get. And if you are nervous you might cut your hand (I have done hundreds of eyes this way and have never cut a finger) just wear a pair of garden gloves. (Kids....never try this alone! Have mom and dad help you).

Also, don't forget that you can always spray paint a ping pong ball with any color you like. And here's a big tip....if you want your eye to be white, make sure you paint it white even if it is already white to begin with. You'd be surprised what a big difference it makes.

We even made a special stand where the eyes can be attached to an arm from the inside. The arm is then removed from the base to allow you to spin and spray the paint for a perfect coat. The arm is then replaced on the base for drying.

Hope that helps a little. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to make a puppet or their eyes. Be creative and have fun!

What a great IDEA ...........

but I don't have a vice but I was thinking to try it with a jigsaw and put the ball on the wooden think that you attact to the table. The ball can be hold in place bacause of the round holl in the wooden thing. I didn't try it yet but this is what I have........... I put picture from the things with it because I don't know if I used the correct words for it.

ps the spelll check doesn't work on this moment so I hope I spelled the words correctly........
