Grasshopper Posted by jomama on Jun 23, 2008
Just sent off my latest puppet to his new owner. I actually took pictures of this one. The grasshopper extends from 3 1/2 feet tall to nearly 6 feet tall. He can be operated by one puppeteer easily and is quite exciting to see in action. I designed this particular puppet about 8 years ago and used him extensively for one of the shows we performed. Someone saw the puppet last year and contacted me about making one for them, so this is the result.

Let me know what you think.

I love the legs, it's great that you can have the grasshopper stand at different heights.

WOW!!  He is amazing!  Would go right along with the library Summer Reading Theme of 'Catch the Reading Bug'!  Thanks for showing us pictures, would we be lucky enough to see some video?

Neat idea with the legs.  I hope the new owners enjoy it as much as we do looking at the pictures.

Thanks for sharing.....

Sue, He's a great design.  I've been thinking about how I would design a cricket.  some elements could be similar.  As always a great job.

LJ, I did come across some video with the grasshopper today as I was looking for some clips for an IFest class I will be helping with and will try to get something posted. I'm having a bit of a problem with my camcorder, it keeps messing up the sound and it is tricky to get video imported onto my computer.

I will have him with me at IFest as an example for the Blacklight class, so if any of you are there you can take a look at him.
