For that past week I was leading a kindergarten group at a campmeeting here in Massachusetts.  (For those who don't know a campmeeting is a christian event where people come and camp for up to several days and listen to preaching, good music and generally spend time together.

Wednesday night I was messing around the location for kindergarteners at about 10 pm.  I was the only one there, all the lights were on and one door was wide open.  I was using my Joshua Junebug puppet in the program and that day I had made a prop that was a box full of junk joshua was carrying around.  Well I was behind that puppet stage prac6icing with Joshua and the prop when I heard a security guard at the door of the department.   the folowing is a script of what played out

Security Guard:  (talking in radio)  Does anyone know why all the lights are on in the kindergarten department and the door is wide open.

Joshua Junebug:  (still carrying box of junk turns toward guard)  Hi, I'm just in here taking out the trash.  Is that ok?

Security Guard:  (talking into radio -- confused)  Uuuummmmmmm....  There's some kind of mechanical muppet in here talking to me.....?

(At this point I stand up and scare the guard half to death)

Completely unplanned and unscripted I wish I had it on tape.  This guy seriously thought a mechanical puppet was talking to him.

I thought I would add a picture of the stage of the kindergarten department.  I made all the decorations and props.  The giant pug cutouts are painted on 1/4 inch plywood.  The puppet stage backdrop is one a made posted about a few weeks ago.  I made the puppet stage too.  It's small, six feet wide by 3 feet deep, just black curtains hung on a 10 foot length of conduit bent into a curve.

We got a lot of positive comments about our setup

I wonder if the security guard has told anyone that he had a "conversation" with a puppet?That is truly funny.He probably didn't laugh then,but is laughing now,I know I am!

Actually, the guard, who happens to be a college student, didn't talk to anybody about it.  But this was to good for me to keep to myself.  One person I told was a friend of his who asked him about it.  He was a good sport.  And the rest of us had a good laugh.

Nothing like those scary talking bugs...LOL....You DO have a great set up I like all the bug signs you did a great job. 

I am glad to hear that you had a great time and thanks for sharing it with us....we love to hear everyone's adventures.  I remember when you first signed up here and asking many questions now you are talking like a pro......Keep sharing.
