Flying with puppets Posted by Onath on Jul 07, 2008
So I will be leaving for the Regional puppet festival in Baltimore this week. Has anyone here had any problems with bringing armrods in carry on luggage. I really don't want to check my puppets I bringing so I am hoping the arm rods won't be an issue. Let me know of your experiences with puppets and planes.

P.S. I would love to meet anyone else that is going to the festival let me know if you are going.

That could all depend on the person inspecting the luggage I think. I don't believe there are any "rules" that would really fit not allowing an arm rod but an inspector could consider it a weapon since it is metal and over the length limit for such things.  The other problem is you might be able to get it to Baltimore but the inspectors there when you return may not allow you to bring it home on the plane.   I had a friend be able to get to Atlanta from Kansas City with her Ginger Scissors around her neck (she forgot she had them although on the trip to the airport I reminded here about three times) but I know that other seamstresses I have talked to had to add them to their checked luggage when flying from other cities.

Do you use detachable rods, and if so could you put the rods in checked luggage and then the puppets in carry on.
