Puppetlady,
I'm having a hard time getting the fabric to smooth out in the corners of the mouth.  Is there a trick to doing this?  I read your post again but I'm still having problems.

Can anyone help me with this?  Has anyone else tried covering this this of head with fleece?  I have two heads that I really do need to cover and need maybe some tips or anything with covering, if not I guess I'll just trash them.  Thanks for any suggestions.  I'm having problems with the coners of the mouth mainly.

Can you post a picture so we can see exactly what the problem is or email me the picture and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks Billy,
I'm not able to post a picture, lost my camera, but it the Brazil puppet from the pattern that Nice has available for download on her site.  Take a look at Puppetlady's Maryjane puppet, I'm trying to get the fleece to be smooth in the corners of the mouth like hers but I'm having a hard time.  I keep getting wrinkles in the corners if the mouth each time it's in the closed position.

With out seeing a picture I'm not sure what you are talking about............... I'm wondering if you may be refering to whats called dimpling as described in these post................ the picture is missing.

When you open the mouth wide does the fabric lay flat?

My feeling about the puppet you are making with the pattern is not a puppet that you could cover.  It seems if you look at Nice's work they are all foam with no coverings on the face.  The way the dimples are around the mouth would be very difficult to cover with out having wrinkles in the material or completely losing the cute feature.

Perhaps you haven't glued the fabric around the mouth to the foam properly.  Sometime you have to carefully glue large areas of fabric to the foam to get it to lay the way you want it to while the puppet is in action.

Without being able to see the puppet it difficult to know how to advise.

Puppetlady made a beautiful fleece cover puppet with this pattern and she ad that she found covering it a bit challenging.  It took her more than one try.  I did notice that covering the puppet did make the dimple less pronounced.

you might try contacting Puppetlady for advice since she has already had some success in this.

Billy,
The fabric does lay flat when the mouth is open. I only get the wrinkles when it's closed. I sure wish I could post a pic for you. Thanks for trying.

Daryl,
It's possible to cover (see puppetlady pic of maryjane) it's just a little diffcult.

Jon,
I like the look of her puppet, I like that all over smooth   look. I guess I'll keep trying.

Thanks,
Angel

Your absolutely right.....I was referring to the work of Nice and didn't recall seeing any being covered by fabric.  Looking at Puppetlady's puppet the mouth on it is always open.....so the question is whether she has some wrinkles when the mouth is closed as well?

Hopefully she will be by to answer that question or give you more guidance.

I think the secret is in the gluing as Jon mentioned.  Also do your remember the videos that Dr Puppet posted links to about a week ago?  He had to take them down for a bit because he was re-organizing them but one of them showed how he covered his heads.  The concept is the same for this.  The "stretch" of your fabric needs to go across the face and the opening for the mouth is cut smaller so as you stretch the fabric it does not get to big.  Sorry for the lame explanation, it makes sense when you  see it in Dr Puppet's video.
