egg pattern Posted by LJ on Jul 16, 2008
Hey all you very creative people, I want to make a large foam egg for my new dinosaur puppet to come out of.  I plan on using one inch foam covered with white fleece, but am looking for advice on how to start making a pattern.  Does anyone have a 3-D egg pattern that I could enlarge or does anyone have any other ideas on how to make an egg for my dinosaur?  THANKS!

I would use a large balloon with paper mache over it to get the the shape.

That's my idea.

Good luck and be sure to post pictures!

Hi LJ!

If you dont´t want a soft egg, I also recommend paper mache or pulp.

Pop-up dragon with egg. The egg, dragons head and "hands" are made of pulp. If you want more details, I gladly give them to you!

If you have a plastic easter egg, make a pattern from that. Use fabric to get the shape with the darts in the correct place then enlarge it on a copier. If your copier doesn't have the capability, take it to Staples and they can enlarge it as much as you need. If you still have troubles, I can do it for you. Let me know.

Great idea LJ............ I took the liberties as I was curious to what it would look like. So here is what I came up with. Cutting a plastic easter egg is a bit difficult with getting everything even but this will give you a idea.
