Welcome to Puppets and Stuff! I love your puppets. I want to know more about each of them. You posted an image in the Gallery about your Eyeball box, can you elaborate on what that is? You can do it here or you can add to the Gallery photo itself giving more details in the Description.
In time I want to make the interface between the Gallery and Forum a bit more user friendly. Also the Gallery does have the ability to handle video but I have not activated it yet so uploading to YouTube is the best alternative then embedding them here or as Daryl mentioned you can upload to other video services and simply supply the link to them in a post. Even if I do enable video support in the Gallery it would be limited because of the size limits I have in place for storage on each user. I just don't have the disk space available that some of the larger sites can offer.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Wow.
Shawn, I have to thank you for your pattern resource suggestions. I just ordered the "Creating Custom Puppets" video from Armslength. WOW. They make a cool looking hand grip in their mouthplates. Have you tried making one before?
Also, I'm trying to find a contact cement that I can use in my house during the winter months. Has anyone tried DAP Weldwood Nonflammable Contact Cement (green label)? Is it less smelly, OK to use w/o ventilation, and bond as quickly?
I'll tell you about the eyeballs in the puppet building forum.

I have never used the Armslength method for the hand grip. I normally just use a small pocket in the upper and lower plate.
The DAP green lable is better on smell and vapors but you still want to have decent ventilation in the room you are in. The bond is comparable but often you need to let it set a bit longer before you join the two pieces you are gluing. A healthy 15-20 min time frame should do it.

Thanks Shawn!
Although the handgrip looks cool, I too use something more simple. I've known nothing else. The handgrip in the video would add more cost to a puppet, and since I'm hobbiest and not a builder by trade, I wouldn't use it with regularity unless I plan to sell the puppet to professionals. I'm going to learn to make one anyway. Looks so comfortable!

I have adapted the arms length video hand grip a little but keep the same concept. I love it as a puppeteer when using a puppet in a long show or other engagements. You are right that if I am making a puppet for personal practice or with kids I keep it basic hand grip but for selling or for my shows it has to be this grip......one of the best I have used so far.
If you have any questions on making it, just PM me, and I will be glad to assist you.

Thanks Daryl:
I ordered Puppet Kit B from Armslength, so I'll be making a handgrip with the kit itself. Once I have the kit, I'll be able to make a pattern and reproduce the grip on other puppets. I am a little concerned that the supplies might be pricey. Chamois is expensive, and I've never used neoprene, primepad, or sentra (sp?). Do you use rivets on your hand grip? Would those be in the hardware store?
