A Quiet Guy Checking In Posted by cglenwilliams on Jul 28, 2008
Hey, all -
My name is Glen - hence the screen name. I'm currently producing an independent movie review show for local television (and, soon, the web), working on a short film, and planning other projects for the near future.
As a child, I was a Muppet freak and always wanted to be a Muppeteer. Instead, however, I went to college and got degrees in Theatre and English, plus a graduate degree in Communications with a theatre emphasis and a secondary emphasis in storytelling.
Now with my show, I'm thinking of building a puppet or two to use for occasional segments (I admit it, I'm a fan of Alton Brown and Good Eats, too), and also considering a few puppet video projects, too.
So I'm here to look around quietly, pick up what I can, and see if there's any way I can maybe take a little inching step toward my childhood dream. Not necessarily working for Henson Productions, but doing some work of the kind on my own.
Cheers,
-Glen

This is the right place to be!! You will learn a lot about how to work toward that childhood dream of yours! We all have that same dream to some extent and have sought to seek for it in a variety of ways! I know I for one would appreciate your wisdom in the area of storytelling!! Please share!! I would like to add storytelling aspects to my programs. Again Welcome!!!

Thank you for being quiet Some of the puppets may still be sleeping. Just make yourself at home, there is plenty of information that is free for the taking. If you can may be that we can learn something from you. Would love to hear more about the show. Welcome to P&S !

Welcome. We're all happy to help in any way we can. If only to say that we helped someone on TV with their puppets. Even if it is unofficially. If you have any questions just ask.

Thanks for the welcome, guys!
The TV show is just a little low-budget local cable show. It's a movie review show with a touch of film history and a healthy dose of film politics as well (DRM, copy protection issues and the like). I also try to wrap it up in some humor, and - of course - I like puppets and would like to do something with them in the show, as well.
I'm always willing to talk storytelling, although I wouldn't be my first choice to teach a class in it. I've done a little bit of stage storytelling (actually, I have a DVD I've self-published of it - I would post a link, but I don't want to start my run here in a spammy way), and I've written some story theatre, as well. If I can help with storytelling in any way, I'll be happy to.
Thanks again for the welcome!

You have my permission to be "in a spammy way", go ahead and post a link. I am sure that PandS members would be interested in the DVD. I really don't mind if folks are here to help and perhaps have a resource they sell that would be of benefit to everyone. I just don't want someone to post junk or products that do not relate to puppetry.

All right, then - and with Shawn's permission, I suppose. The DVD is at http://kunaki.com/accounting/ShowproductDetail.asp?PID=PX00EHHK5L - it's a storytelling concert DVD recorded live. I'm looking at doing a new storytelling DVD soon - one that's actually designed as a video and not as a live recording.
