2008 Laugh Olympics Posted by Onath on Aug 08, 2008
So we put up a new vid. We did a little competition between Sulfy and Augustus as they battle it out to find out who is the best.

Check it out here

Let me know what you think I love constructive criticism.

Good job on the manipulation.  I think you should widen your shot just a little to get more of the green guy in the frame. Because of the tight shot, focus appears to be on the blue guy. The blue one had great height, but the green one could stand to be a little taller. Again, this could be because of the tight shot.
Just an idea, try filming using both wide angle and close up shots, as well as change the position of the camera. Camera a little off center angled at the puppets, another idea is to have your camera just a touch lower than your puppets. This will change the perspective and give added interest to your films. Experiment with the camera!

Thanks sue and Brenda. I appreciate the feedback. We are aware of the tightness of shots. It is partly due to the fact that we are in a small practice space right now. We are looking for a bigger space to film in and that will fix the situation. We are quite literally just a couple inches from the ceiling. I am 6'3" and play Sulfy(the blue one) and my buddy Stephen is about 6'2" (alien). So we are hoping to fix this. Thank you for the input I will pass it on to my partner in crime.

That was a fun video!!!  You keep up with the trends with your video which is nice to see.

BTW you can solve the hight issue easily and pretty cheaply.  You can get those car mechanic rolling seats.  They have about 6-8 wheels they role really easy and quietly so you can keep the flow of moving the puppets around but you are lower to the floor so you don't need to worry about height issues.  I do echo Jomama with some of the camera work.

Very funny, guys.  I just want to say that you just keep getting better.  The key to good vids is the subject matter and you're doing fine there.  Adding interest with the camera would be icing on the cake.

Thanks guys I love the encouraging words. Hey Daryl do you think you could post a link to the mechanical rolling seats. I'm glad you like the subject matter it quite literally just comes from me reading the paper in the morning then I write a sketch about something that I read about.  It is great to here that it works.

Hey Daryl do you think you could post a link to the mechanical rolling seats.

Here is a link to one....I would suggest to get the ones with hard rubber wheels instead of the plastic ones since they make more noise than hard rubber wheels.  (this one only has 4 wheels but you can get them with smaller wheels with 6-8 all around in any direction) The seat can just be round without the the back support just like a stool at a bar.  Here is a picture to work with....

I use them when performing on stages so that my scene area does not have to be so high up for everyone to break there necks to watch the show.

Hope this helps you on your searches.
