lolly bye doll repair Posted by giric thren on Aug 08, 2008
Hello,

My girlfriend has a doll called a jammie pies: lolly bye doll and she has had it her whole life (her grandmother bought it for her before she was born), and a few months ago one of our ferrets climbed up a cabinet, and chewed up a small portion of her face. I have contacted many place about such a repair, including fisher price  to no avil. Any suggestions or tips??

Thanks

Thomas

Could you post a picture? Then we can see if it is something we can repair.

I would suggest going into a doll shop (specifically dolls and doll houses) and asking if they have any repairers or if they know of any. Additionally, contact your local doll collectors society - they'll know of some people who could help.

Doll repair is a very specific skill, so collectors will most definitely have a list. You can also do some searches on the net for doll repair articles; there are a few as I recall.

I am wondering about the material, is it plastic, fabric.....?  It doesn't look like an easy material to "repair" however understanding the material will make it easier at seeing if it could be touched up?

I'd go on ebay and buy another.  You can just swap the heads.

I tried to buy another. The problem with that is this particular jammie pie doll is rare, really rare. I did bid on one but once it hit the $200 mark I had to bow out. I was in contact with a porfessional restoration....person, who restore and orginal Labrynth puppet (the fox with the eye patch). He told me that he didnt feel comfortable working on cherished item such as this. So I then turned to some collectors of this brand of doll, to which nobody seems to know what the face is made of. As a last ditch effort I thought that experienced puppet masters might know. I will continue my search through ebay and other sites.
