Jay says: I am sewing him today and my thought was to film a segment of doing the hand stitching to show how that is done.

I would love to see this as well............ Now that you have our attention and our curiousity in this method.

Billy is absolutely right about L200. I started using it for the head shells of costume characters years ago. I was taught how to use it by the old Kincaid company (not sure if anyone knows who they were) but they showed me L200 and many other great materials. The hand stitching video is just about done it was hard to shoot so close and stay in the camera shot so its not perfect but i hope it helps. It will be up in about an hour or so.

I buy my L200 and rogers foam from atlas foam in California. i will try and find their website. They don't do credit card orders they ship COD (old school).

After hand stitching I am going to do a bit about bodies....if that is something people are intrested in.

By the way any other requests??

Hey Jay,

I have two requests. I would be interested in How you attach your arms to the body. I use a locking whipstitch right now to attach them. I would love to see how you do yours.

Second how you do your pupils. I use sticky black felt pads. I would like something a little more consumer and child proof.

Thanks again for doing this really some great knowledge being shared and yes I'm sure we would all love to see some stuff on bodies being made.

Ok here is the hand sewing segment it would not let me link it to the same post on my site so I had to make a new thread.

Permanent arms are fine by me but if you want to show both that is awesome.

Awesome sewing demo I also use the ladder stitch. The only thing I don't understand is the two threads. Did you put two threads through your eye and not it and then you are stitching with two thread the whole time. Sorry probably an easy answer just curious.

Thanks again for the tutorials really awesome.

No that's a great question i occurred to me after I should have shown that. First of all I don't use cotton thread. i use had quilting thread. It much stronger and breaks a lot less. Not what i do is make double the length I need then push one side through the eye. I bring both half's back to gether at the end and then make a knot. If that is confusing to anyone i will show it next time if you like.
