Swazzle Stage design Posted by Jon on Aug 18, 2008
I was just checking out the Swazzle web site to see what was new and found this series of posts where they discuss the evolution of their puppet stages and introduce their new stage design. What they had to share was very interesting and informative. They had a great idea about incorporating their puppet stage with their travel trunks. Thought some of you would be interested

Thanks Jon for bringing this to attention, although I read my RSS feeds and puppet 101 being one of them. I forget to post stuff here.

That is something that I definitely need to work on for my small stage....transporting it. I was smart enough to design it with the dimensions of my trunk space in mind; however, I didn't put enough effort on how I would transport it. It was fine when all of my previous shows were within a few feet from my trunk so moving it hadn't been a problem. The last show that I did before I went on vacation was at the Honolulu Zoo. I had to walk it a VERY VERY far distance from where I parked my car. I was lucky that I had my husband with me but it was quite a chore. Now, I am developing a cart that can break down for transportation and have a circus type feel to it to match. I didn't use the typical pvc construction but I do realize that it would be a GREAT way to transport and store away. One minor issue that I have with my stage is where I store it. Right now, I just keep it in my trunk. I'm lucky that I don't need to use my trunk so that is all that is in there but it would still be nice to have it be able to breakdown to fit into a trunk like those pictures.
Thanks for posting!

I did read the same post you have on Swazzle and really like the trial and error of different designs they went through. Thanks for sharing it with the group.
