I did it! Posted by Shawn on Aug 23, 2008
I created an account at YouTube and uploaded an old video I had made. It is nothing great and was simply something I shot with a cheap camera of some of my marionettes when they where on display at PAI (Puppetry Arts Institute).

I have also created a channel at YouTube to help compile and organize all the puppetry videos there. In time I'll have YouTube integrated into the site so you can see much of the info that you see there without having to leave P&S. If you have a YouTube account you'll be able to connect it into your Profile here so folks can see your favorites and such. More information on this as I finish up some of the programing I am working on.

Congrats at joining the you tube race.
They are awesome puppets! My two favorite is the Moon Man and the dog that is dressed like a Genie.
I don't think I saw any of those puppets before and they are really nice work. Did you make them for a certain show or are they a creative journey from your imagination? Why were they in this PAI display? What materials did you use? Tell us more Shawn.

Well Puppy and the King that you see towards the end of the video where built a long time ago for the show I took on the road for Renaissance Festivals. If Ron reads this he may remember them. They are paper mache' and fabric construction. Blue Moon and Genie where built for general cabaret show use and not really for any specific show although Geni was most often used in Christmas shows. Both are trick marionettes. Blue Moon swings on a trapeze, Genie plays a flute and his body expands up much like a snake. Yes Genie has a slinky in his body.
They where on display at the PAI as part of a larger exhibit that featured puppets and history about LaFamille Marionettes which is the company I worked with here in Kansas City for some time when I first got started.

Not real sure how it all works quite yet, I just keep clicking buttons. I think that a Channel is just like your own page at YouTube. You can see mine here. http://www.youtube.com/user/puppetsandstuff Then you can create Play List that let's you organize videos you like into your own categories. Look for the Accounts drop down when you are logged in and click on More... It well show you all kinds of things you can do. The info you see on my home page there I want to incorporate into the Profiles here at Puppets and Stuff. So if someone has a YouTube account they can enter their username and it well show much of what you see there. Other cools things hopefully to like being able to upload videos to your YouTube account from here. We well see.
