Cicero and his Marvelous Machines, Part 3: Making the Cut Posted by brazilnut72 on Aug 25, 2008
This particular machine began life as a scanner.  After serving for many years in the IT world, it went into puppetry.  It's specialty is now cutting perfect circles in foam--very useful in the making of ears and noses and other puppet appendages.

Ok, Cicero is a genius.  Tell him we're impressed.  By the way, is that a hot wire cutting the foam? AND if it is hot wire does it make smelly fumes when it cuts?

Absolute Genius!  I only wish I had someone with that talent to do such things for me.

It is a hot wire and yes it does make smelly fumes.  Anytime you use a hot wire and foam you should go outside or be in a well ventilated area.  Foam is made of harmful chemicals and when heated and melted gives off such dangerous fumes.
