How to build a simple motor Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Aug 25, 2008
After watching the Brazil videos on Cicero home made machines it got me to thinking  Now this can't be that hard to do. I'll just check around for " What cha ma call it's ? " and wa Lah............... Here are some variations of home made motors........................ Now if some minds think a like I believe we can create a Puppets and Stuff foam cutting machine.

Billy:
I'm sure we can figure something out between all our brains.  I'm going to ask my husband about this.  I have a feeling he could figure this out with a few helpful hints.
I do have a simple styrofoam cutter that I bought cheap.  Unfortunately, it does not work on polyfoam.  It barely cut and did it's share of smoking.  I'm going to guess that Nice Braga's machine has a thin blade.  I'll have to take another peak at her video.  If it's a hot wire, my husband and I can rig something up based on the videos you shared.  Thanks!  I'll be looking into this.
Do you know whether her machine is a blade or a hot wire?

OK, I took another look.  It does look like a hot wire and there are polyfoam cutter hot wire cutters out there on the market.  Not expensive either, maybe $30.  I would think that it smells a bit and would require ventilation like one of your videos suggested.
Has anyone out there used a hot wire polyfoam cutter?

I was looking for the type wire used in the foam cutters......... It is Nichrome Wire.

That was fun!!!  I loved making battery motors as a kid.  Remember doing simple ones in science class in elementary?  Man, bringing back good memories of school....hehe.

I might have to do some of these with hubby for fun.  I'm really into making toys right now so it would be fun to incorporate a simple battery motor with it.

Thanks for the links!

Aloha,
Nikole
