I am looking for you opinions.  Now that I am actually starting to build puppets to sell and am looking to sell a pattern or two and some puppets scripts and such, I was wondering what people thought of the The Name "Bashful Puppet" and the Logo I've been using.  I feel like they are cute and fun but is that really enough.  I've decided that if I seriously want to involve my self professionally in the puppetry business I need to present myself professionally as well.



To explain the puppet and shield image.  The shield is the Clayburn family crest and the puppet is, well... a puppet.  I developed it for use as an avatar but have been using on my blog as well.  The name "Bashful Puppet" describes the puppet hiding behind the shield, he's a bashful puppet.  Not sure what it says about me or my take on puppetry but that's it.

Well, enough rambling, tell me what you think.  I've asked for your opinions so don't worry if you feel you need to tell me it needs to be improved.

My thinking: That logo is good, but (There I go!), that shield is missing something (I thing is a combination of others colors or choose other color and other shape), the puppet behind is great (Maybe with a little bit more of hair, so the people can see it more), and  the words are good (But the color, or the combination of those color "Black and pink", I don't know...)

But the main idea is great!

If you want a professional feel to the company......

I think that the shield has more meaning to you and people don't understand the meaning behind it, you want to keep personal things out of it unless it is clear without explaining it to others.  I find the shield a little uninteresting and low meaning to your name of your puppet company since you don't have your family name as part of your companies name.  I didn't know that it was a puppet since it seems that you can see feet below.....I thought maybe a little gnome.   I would certainly make the puppet look like a puppet a little more and add colour for that pop to your logo.....basically.....keep it simple, clear and clean.

I don't want this to sound harsh as you read it just giving some general rules around logo's and food for thought....nothing personal and it certainly isn't bad as is....just that you were asking for professionalism.

Thanks guys for your input.  Like I said when I first made the shield thing it was for an avatar.  I too have thought that the Crest might not be very meaningful to someone looking at it.  that's one of the main reasons why I was asking.  I'm thinking of designing a new shield (maybe an oval or some other shape) with a simple BP initial on it. With color and everything.  Maybe I'll work something up and run it by you.

It seems from what the responses are so far the name Bashful Puppet is good.  the logo needs to be more understandable in terms of meaning, more colorful and the puppet more obviously a puppet.

Thanks for the good responses.  If anybody else has anything to offer I'm open to all suggestions or insights.

Well I gave it another go at the logo and this is what I came up with.  decided for this try to completely remove the shield and make the puppet more obviously a puppet and lots of color.  (maybe too much)

I really like the new logo.  I was going to suggest more color in your original but you did that with the new one.  I too would move the face out a bit more so he is really peeking out and you can see his face.  I am wondering what it would look like if you used 3 colors of letters in the title.  Mixed it up and made it fun and colorful.  Just an idea.  It looks good the way it is....just some suggestions.

Really like the name Bashful Puppet - if it's a company name maybe plural 'Puppets' would be better - although maybe not!  The new logo looks great - like the colour and Miguel's suggestion of the puppet being more seen is good maybe even hanging over the sign.
