Alien Marionette Posted by Rcdspoon on Sep 14, 2008
Hey Gang,

I have always enjoyed the talent that is marionette puppetry...I think it started back one time while i was at the beach and this guy was walking around with a string t-rex.  It was totally awesome and so completely life like. So I got into doing little string paper puppets out of my origami...it was a neat little magic trick. I use to have a video of one  up on youtube for a little while.  Well this weekend I had some time to kill and decided to build a larger version...So I made a little video of the project that I was working on.  Please keep in mind that I have not ever worked with a large scale marionette before...So, let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy the vid!!!

Sincerely,

Spoon

Spoon excellent example of how easy it to make any thing into a puppet. I was expecting your table cloth to jump off the table as a dancing partner lol.
Great job! Thanks for sharing........... this should inspire others to try new things.

Great job! I love the music you chose and the foot tapping. Gives me the urge to try something new.

I like the cloth idea and keeping it simple....it was a great first attempt to try things out and see how it goes.

Thanks for sharing....

I really liked your video editing in the beginning by showing pictures of the supplies and such.  Good job!

Very nice! I am sure you well have hours of entertainment with your new friend.  I think this is one of the best types of marionettes to start with. it really let's you get a feel for how the strings and balance of a marionette works.  The more you play with him the more you'll discover what he can do.  Keep up the great work!

First , the IKEA sidetable is actually a stool for my kids...(I don't do IKEA, LOL!) and the refrigerator is black and silver. However the yellow kitchen lights do give it a greenish look!

Anyway, thanks again...I hope to have more videos soon!!!!

Sincerely,

Spoon

Yes,

I have twin girls and a boy...and yes they do love the puppets. Of course each one has their favorite but they did enjoy the marionette.
