I went and redid a few of my puppets hands.  I liked The Dr Puppet method he showed.  So I used the same stuff he used in his tutorial.  Problem is that stuff was like seven bucks for two hands.  That's not good... I went online looking for good prices and haven't found any.  Just curious if anyone else knows of some.

I personally have had good results with electric fence wire.  I use 17 or 18 guage wire.  Its about 5 dollars for a 200 ft spool at the local farm supply.  That's enough wire for about 200 hands.  it's also very durable.

I had some chickenwire being used for awhile.  Then I was told there is small amonts of lead so I stopped using it and removed it from all puppets.  I really love the solder though.  It's the perfect size and flexibility.

I'm using 18 gauge florist's wire that I got at Joanne's Fabric. It is in around 12" lengths, or on a spool. I decided to get the straight pieces so that I wouldn't have to straighten out the curl as it comes off the spool.

I'm fairly certain the wire I use is lead free.

I bought the animation wire and it was very pricey as well for the hands.  I think I had enough to make 4 hands.  Somethings are just not cheap but it does add to the quality and professionalism of the puppets in the end.

I wish I had a better resource to share with you.
