From rejected to Power Pig Posted by Jon on Sep 30, 2008
My second puppet was a pig I built for my churches puppet ministry.  Well the first attemt was a lot bigger than I wanted it to be so I abandoned the partially built head and started over.  That was several months ago but a few weeks ago my 14 year old nephew came for a visit and asked if I would help him finish it.  His idea was for the pig to be a kind of super hero.  Well I taught him how to glue and sew by hand but the look and character are all his design.  He's pleased and I'm very proud of him.  Just in case your wondering, I made Spencer do all the stitching.  Turns out he's something of a perfectionist and he did a very good job.

Wow Jon................. Your nephew did a very nice job on the super hero. A pig at that   Miss piggy is my hero but I think this will be my second choice in case she is busy. Tell your nephew we are proud of him to and don't stop building now................... He must create a whole theme around this character. What is the heros name? Power Pig
Now why did I not see that

My 5 and 6 year old are looking at Power Pig on my monitor and are going ape.  They are begging me to make one for them!  I too think that this one is a real winner - very cute, likable.  It would be real fun to write or act out story lines for this fellow.  Bravo for your nephew.  Bravo for you as well.  It's my experience that it takes a lot of time and patience to help kids make puppets.  This month two of my three kids want to make puppets for the Project Puppet contest, and I'm not looking forward to sharing my workspace and time with them.  Puppet building is usually a quiet down time for me.

FYI Power Pig might need nostrils.

Is Power Pig a Roly pattern puppet?  Perhaps he could enter the contest?

Billy:

Nice new logo.  I like.  I think I may follow the trend here.

Sorry guys, I didn't notice that the picture I posted was taken before the nostrils and tongue were added.  Here's a picture of the completed puppet.  Thanks for pointing it out, Puppet Lady.

Sorry to say, he is not made from a project puppet pattern.  He's a one of a kind, Bashful Puppet design.
