I'm drawing up sketches for the Puppet contest and made a template for each Project Puppet pattern to help me sketch out designs.  It includes an light outline of the various Project Puppet shapes.  I'd be willing to share them if that would be helpful for you.

When I entered the Monster Contest from Project Puppet I got some interesting feedback from Pasha Romanowski and Phillip Hatter.  Although I was one of three winners, I noticed from the comments that it was important to the judges that the puppet wasn't just thrown together and happened to look nice.  (Which is what I did.) They were interested in seeing some purposeful design.  Pasha emailed me later and gave me some constructive criticism (that I welcomed!) which has led me to take more time in the planning stages of puppet building - namely sketching out what I wanted to make and trying to develop a character which possess physical characteristics that support the kind of character the puppet actually is.  For example, A bad guy who looks mean and nasty because his eyes are angry and his other features support the idea as well.  The problem I was having with this pre-plan stage is that my drawing skills are weak.  So I developed these templates to help me sketch out my designs.  The template is basically an empty puppet shape that I can draw eyes and nose and hair on and colour in with coloured pencils.  The head and body shapes are different for the various patterns, so I made seperate templates for each of the Project Puppet patterns.  I also added a box on the bottom for written details.

Are the templates going to be posted for the Project Puppet patterns? The last post from Puppet Lady has a sketch order, but not templates.

Yes, somehow that thread got locked.  The templates are a rough sketch of a finished puppet. It is NOT the pattern.  They are a sketch of the shape of the finished puppet so you can draw the details on top and plan ahead what your character will look like.  The real pattern must be purchased from Project Puppet.  To get the template for an empty puppet shape to draw up your plans on, go to my gallery and download the pdf for the pattern you are using for your puppet.  The template will look like a very light drawing of a puppet shape with space to write notes.  Does this make sense?  It's for planning purposes.

I have the patterns, but when I went to your gallery the sketches didn't show on my screen. Just the information about customer name, requirements, character name, etc. Am I missing the templates somehow?

The puppet sketch should be very very light gray in the open white area.  I made it light so you can sketch over top.  Is anyone else having problems?  In my gallery you click on the template of your choice (the ones with no thumbnail).  Click "no thumbnail" and then click "download document".  It should be a pdf file not a jpg and print to fill a full sheet of paper.
