Looking for eyes like elmo or wembley Posted by Onath on Oct 27, 2008
Hey guys,

So I'm looking for some help. I have gone around to all the usual stores and looked at just about anything and everything round in this full round eyeball look like elmo or wembley fraggle.

I have looked at fishing bobbers
nerf ballistic balls
christmas ornaments
ends of basters
every kind of sporting ball from lacrosse to wiffle ball

But none of those seem right they either are too heavy, a big seam that I can't sand down, or don't have the right glossy kind of look.

IF you any of you guys could give me a suggestion I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jon

Nope.

Ping pong balls are a little too small. I should have said that earlier sorry.

I have the hard acrylic plastic half domed eyes with back post and fastners.... size 650mm for $1.50 a pair. You might consider the dome clear acrylic ornament holders to use.

I use polystyrene balls, painted, and then a gloss on the iris.

The Nerf balistic foam balls are a little bigger than ping pong balls.  i've tried painting them and they take the paint well.  I guess the only problem would be if you were looking for a ball with a smooth surface.  The nerf balls have a bit of tecture to them.
