hello, I´m Moema, from Brazil Posted by Moema on Nov 13, 2008
Hello!
I´m a 34 year old puppeteer from Brazil, a Drama graduation student at the University of Brasilia and a member of the group As Caixeiras. We do "teatro de lambe-lambe", the kind performed with small puppets in a box for one spectator at a time. I will graduate in the end of 2009 and I´m looking for a school where to take a Master´s in Puppetry. Right now I am searching for information on books, groups articles, experiences to help me write my monography.
I hope to make many good friends here!!

Have a nice day everyone!!
Best,
Moema

Welcome to puppets and stuff. You will find nice people here, that would love to help you. Great teachers as Mr. Fuller, and Mr. Shown (He is a good adviser). Great artists like Mr. Tyson, Ms. Pam, Pastor Jon, and others more persons with great talent and able to help to whoever ask for it.

Miguel (I'm a beginner in this field, like 4 to 5 months ago)!

Hi Moema,
It's nice to have more Brazilians around. This is a place where people are very friendly and hospitable and it's the best site about puppeteering on the web. I'm sure you will find what you are looking for, but don't forget to share your work here. I'm sure they will like to see what a "teatro lambe-lambe" is.
I'm also from Brasilia. Let's get together.

Welcome! Your brand of puppetry sounds facinating. i don't belive I have ever seen it. You would not be willing to film it would you?

We do "teatro de lambe-lambe", the kind performed with small puppets in a box for one spectator at a time.

This really does sound fascinating. I was reading a few years ago about a storyteller who stopped performing in theaters and began giving performances for only one person at a time, in a small parlor. The reviewer said that it really increased the effectiveness of the performance.

One of our members here who normally gave original puppet shows in schools and other settings began doing something similar a year or two ago, giving performances dressed as a gypsy fortune teller to one person at a time, if I recall correctly. The personal interaction can be very powerful.

I'm glad that you found us and joined up. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your work.
