Re: A new portable puppet stage! Yeah! Posted by MsPuppet on Apr 14, 2010
Someone told me it is actually a display for conferences, etc. Their major complaint (besides the ones mentioned) was that the side views (audience) are blocked and the performance area is small.
You can put an aluminum one together for about the same money or less.
I would not fly with it, it won't hold up.

I made my own stage out of 40mm plastic drainage pipe and push-on T and right=angle corners to make a frame. It is covered with black cloth which is sewn so that the horizontal pipe feed through the top of the cloth. this has proved to be a flexible and expandable system. It can be a variety of setups from a single 1.25 meter width stage with closed sides and back screen or a 2.5 meter wide stage with three levels. Whole setup cost less than a commercially produced single level stage without sides. It also has a professional look to it and I can either have a plain black backdrop or a custom painted backdrop. I often use the plain black backdrop with a large widescreen TV placed in front of it (supported by a custom made wooden frame). I link the TV to a laptop computer and I can do scene changes with effects, animated backgrounds and even a newsroom with a prerecorded 'live' on the scene reporter video link!
