Just wanted you all to know that I received a letter from the Iowa Arts Council right before Christmas and I have been accepted for both the Teaching and Performing Artists Rosters!  Thanks for all your well-wishes!!  Now I have to write out my plan so I am ready if I get hired!  Of course all the grant money for this school year is used up so schools will not have any money to access until next school year. Anyway that was good news!!

I think they made a great choice. Keep us informed.............. Perhaps you can start a thread on how one prepares to be qualified and what is needed to  to a get accepted to a State Art Roster.

Congratulations!!  I agree that they made a great choice.  Keep us posted about how things go.

BTW - what kind of work would you be doing?  I'm not real clear about that.

What I would be doing is teaching puppetry as an art form in schools.  The students would make puppets (a variety of kinds - determined by the stories and songs they will be performing). Then after making the puppets we would would practice a story skit and song (this also would be chosen by the students from some options that I will provide). The students would also be making the props and scenery to be used in the presentation. Then they would eventually present their own story/song to the rest of the school. I am still working out the details but the "mini-residencies" I have done in my local day-care and school have been fun!!
