sound systems/mics Posted by LJ on Jun 11, 2010
Hey I just heard on the news about the new law going into effect concerning wireless microphones that broadcast in the 700 MHz band. Does anyone know any more information about this? Does anyone know which sound systems will NOT be out of compliance when this goes into effect?

Does anyone have any suggestions for headset mics (not wireless)? Right now I am using a very old EV mic on a flexible boom mounted to a mic stand. I perform all my characters live, and would love to get the stand out of my puppet stage. I would like to stay under my $300 budget. Thanks for your help

Not sure about this company since I just found them on Google but it list some headset mics that are not that expensive. http://www.galaxyaudio.com/headsets.php
You know my other thought was computer mic headsets. These can be really cheap and really have no idea if the quality would be enough. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/internet-headsets-phones Also notice that at least these have the headsets on them but I know that often you can them without. One thing to think about is that mics like these are not going to be "tuned" for singing but for talking. While I am not tech enough to know the details I do know there is a difference.

I see your point on the computer mics, not really made for singing puppeteers.
Here's one Shure that I am considering: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/sm/sm10a-headworn-microphone

Looks good. I think the WH 20 or 30 would be a good pick also if you where performing in front of an audience and not behind a stage. http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/other/wh20-dynamic-headset-microphones

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a headset or lavaliere system. In my last video, wasn't really happy with the audio. I was wondering since you've had it for two years or so, if you would recommend the headsets mentioned? Thanks!
