Puppets and Stuff at Facebook Posted by Shawn on Jan 10, 2011
Well I finally bit the bullet and created a Facebook page for Puppets and Stuff!  It always seemed a bit repetitive to me to have pages on other sites for Puppets and Stuff but it is just a great way to link up with others.  Facebook has a lot of cool little features that can be tied into an existing site.

I've added in two new bbCodes to help folks connect with Facebook.  One displays what you see in the post above and it is called the Like Box over at Facebook.  You actually have to have a Facebook Page to use that one.

The second is show below in two examples and is called the Like Button over at Facebook.  Now it can be used by anyone with a Facebook account or for that matter a website!

This first one is for the Puppets and Stuff page over at Facebook:

This one is for the Puppets and Stuff site itself:

So how can you add a like button in a post for your own site or Facebook Page?  It is really pretty simple.  You simply but the URL of the site or page that you want the like button to work for between fblike bbCode tags.  Below is what each look like before they are processed.

It is kind of repetitive to have pages on other sites but it is good free advertising.

You are correct about that awseightyfive!  I used to push this idea more here on Puppets and Stuff and encourage folks to not only visit here but a variety of sites related to puppetry on the web. There is power in these big sites to reach folks that you might not connect up with on a smaller site like PandS.

Hmm.... not sure what that is about.  I have noticed that from time to time the content sent for this by FaceBook is not completely reliable.   Give it a try again and see what happens.  If it happens again then move the post to the Admin area so I can have a look at it.
