I think the regular craft foam should work fine. Not sure how you are applying the fur but my guess at how you would be doing it makes me think it would stand up fine.  If not they might be able to use a bit of hair spray on it to get it to stand up. I would use it sparingly and try to get the most of it at the base of the fur instead of on the ends. Here is my basis for that... I think you all know that I primarily work in theater as a costumer and hair and makeup artist.  With a wig if you want it to stand up or have height you tease the hair at the base so it has a foundation to stand on so to speak. Same concept here is where I am going.

Well, I"m progressing nicely with this pattern.
Does anyone know the name for any type of strong thread? I'm at the part where the legs and arms are to be button jointed to the body but I don't know the name of any brand of thread that is stronger than normal. I've never used that type of thing. I remember my dad used to run thread thru a block of wax to strengthen it.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hymark is one brand of thread that is extra heavy. You could also use the word Intrensic or phrase Heavy Duty Nylon Thread. Upholstery thread is can also be a term. The reason I've given  you so many ideas is because as you know products are very different depending on where you live.   There is one more brand that comes in a long white cardboard "envelope" that is strands of heavy thread about 12" to 24" long that is intended for doing hand sewing that is heavy but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it at the moment. I think it is German made.  It is however hard to get a hold of.

Thank you so much Shawn, I'll look into these. For my other dolls I've used a 'kite' string which is virtually unbreakable but I don't know it's official name. Maybe it's one of the ones you've listed. I will have to check how well it passes through felt too, since my 'Caribbean Daisy Dolls' are cotton fabric.

All the threads I mentioned above are just fine for felt.

Shawn, I'm thinking now to not bother with strong thread, I proved to myself again that you don't really need it. The amount of times you pass the regular thread through the buttonholes seems to make the jointing quite strong.

I've finished the instructions for the pattern now, finally. All I have to do now is edit the 100 photos that go with it, phew! I know it's a lot but people seem to appreciate lots of visuals. I will post some random pictures here tomorrow.

I'm glad you showed these.  Do you have a program to make the patterns full size on the computer or do you just scan them in then type the labels on?  I was just wondering about this last night as I was working on patterns that I thought about making available, but didn't want them to look "hand drawn".
