cloth dolls Posted by erikawildrick on Apr 29, 2014
Message ImageMessage ImageMessage ImageI just posted a couple pictures of some of the cloth dolls I've made. The joints are loose, and that's what led me into this puppet making phase. I guess you might say they're constructed like a Raggedy Ann. This is the concept I'm using with the marionettes. Heads of papier-mache, and bodies of cloth stuffed with fiberfil.I have no idea how the puppets will hold up over time and use. I'm planning to put leather or vinyl on their feet bottoms.

See if you can find a copy of "Marionettes Easy To Make! Fun To Use!" by Edith Flack Ackley. ISBN: 29-18474 ASIN: B0008A0ZR0 It is no longer in print so you will need to check your local library. It was my very first puppet book when I was young and the bodies and heads where made just like you are doing with your dolls!  It even had patterns in the back of it although I doubt you'll find one with them now since they where just in a back pocket of the book. Great starter book and has all the basics in it.

I really like your dolls.  Again just like your marionettes the choice of cloth and color combinations are great!
