Looking Forward Posted by Shawn on Jun 20, 2017
I am starting the process of migrating the site to a new system and server.  Don't panic this is going to take me some time.

The new system is going to be very different from what we have now.  I am planning on migrating the current content of the Forum to the new system but it will be archived.  That means you'll be able to read the old content but not add to it in the form of replies. More then likely the Gallery is going to have to go away. At least in it's current form.

Users who are accessing the site via the TapTalk app will no longer be able to use that app to access the site.  Good news though is that the new system is mobile friendly so I don't think that is going to be too big of a shock to TapTalk users.

It is going to require that you sign up for an account again. While I am going to try and set up connections between old content and the new user database, the difference between the two systems is just two big to try and import all the old users.  I'll try my best to make it easy for those current users to set up a new account.

Would love to hear your feed back on this.  What is it you like about PandS.  What should we keep and what can we do without. I'll be using Concrete5 as the frame work for the new site. It has a lot of abilities built in that connect with better with other social media sites out there like FB, Twitter, Google+ and more.

Again this is going to take me quite a while ... or at least I think it is ... so now is the time to speak up if you have ideas!

Now that I am digging into the old stuff a bit more I thought I would mention some areas I am planning on not archiving on the new site.

Site Information
There are better ways to handle that and the current content in the sections under that will no longer be relevant.

Introduce Yourself
I won't transfer this content over.  The new set up will handle information that was once in this area in a different way so that hopefully it is easier to search through.  For example if you are looking for someone who builds marionettes you would be able to pull up bios of folks who do.

Amazon Puppet Books
Most the links to the books in this section no longer work. Over time I'll work on a replacement for this area that is not tied to Amazon.  More of a resources section.

Puppetry On The Internet
There are a lot of dead links in this section. Not sure how I want to handle it yet.  More then likely this too will be tied in to a bio section.

Bazil's Bazaar
I won't transfer this content. Again out of date.  There is going to be a way to list items you want to sell or get rid of but it it'll be a bit more controlled so that older out of date items are not shown.

Puppet Events
Old content will not be transferred. New interface to list events will be created.

I'm sure it will be great.  As long as we can still post pics and vids.
