Spring Puppet Mechanism Posted in Spring Puppet Mechanism on Dec 31, 2016
I saw a performance of spring Raccoon puppet last night and I wanted to know how it works and what the spring part looks like.  I can find Rocky Raccoon on Amazon, the animals seem to be marketed to Magicians.  When I search for how it works I get performance information rather than construction or how the mechanism works. I found an interesting discussion on a magicians forum where they wondered how they could get better constructed puppets and thought how our folks could have helped with that.  Does anyone know about these spring mechanisms?

I love that your audio is loud enough that I can hear it well, so many are too low for me to understand, and puppets are hard to lip read. I never realized how the google eyes shake so nicely for a scared puppet look. Your puppets have natural scary hair, I so want to brush to that troll hair.
Re: help to sell collection Posted in help to sell collection on Sep 19, 2016
Just finished selling my parents antique collections on ebay and it was very disappointing. We probably made more money on the tax credit when we donated what did not sell.  Ebay folks want a deal!!!  I hope you have better luck.  If you had a garage sale close to Christmas in a neighborhood with lots of kids you might fare better.  My son was telling me that there are lots more low price items sold on ebay than high price so maybe selling one by one might sell more but the postage can back fire if you estimate it wrong and the buyer is far away. I know it would mean a lot to your Mother in law to know that a puppet lover got her treasures, good luck.

Bat Joke Posted in Bat Joke on Aug 19, 2016
Message ImageAt my office we had a real bat come out of the ceiling for one of our new young guys. Tomorrow is his last day and I thought I would make him a bat puppet to take to his new job since he has to vacate his Bat Cave.  Threw it together in two evenings from scraps but I am very pleased with it, and surprised that it was so easy.  We should all get a good laugh when we give it to him tomorrow and he will know he will be missed.  Bats are big in Austin, we have one of the largest urban colonies I hear.
New Puppet Concept with moving fingers Posted in New Puppet Concept with moving fingers on May 26, 2016
My son sent me this U Tube link to video of a new type puppet that can pick up objects with moving fingers. I have never seen one like this, it is cool.
