We used to use a curtain rod in doorway stage when my kids were young but they kept leaning on the rod and it would fall down.  I was thinking of putting a rod across my narrow front porch for Halloween but I bet it would keep falling down too.  I guess that will teach the puppeteers good technique to not lean on the stage.

Spooky music.  Like the flames in front of the video nice touch.  I want to comb puppets hair so bad, that hair is so crazy.

I was a preschool teacher for a few years.  Science has to be pretty simple for that age. They loved bugs and magnets I have a preying mantis puppet that I put up thru a basket and the kids can ask it yes or no questions and it shakes head to answer.  They like to make predictions about what magnets will do with different objects.  I had an Einstein puppet who would ask them for predictions. We also dropped different things off the playscape and they predicted which of a pair would hit the ground first to learn about gravity. I think parasitology might be too scary for preschoolers. Chemistry puts holes in your puppets.

Very cool.  That was awesome how the Morlock disintegrated so fast.  Those glowing eyes were scarey.  I was wondering how the eyes seemed to have rays coming out of them rather than just a soft glow. Looks like you had a lot of fun.

I enjoyed this thread too, Na take all the internet you need. If rods are hard to come by how about an alternative like a cane, staff or microphone on a stick attached to a hand, then you don't have to worry about the rod showing the prop is supposed to be seen. I like your large puppet he is unique like you.  I was wondering if a little steam on the chin might shrink the fabric or would it melt the foam first?  Might be worth a test on some scraps.

For kid friendly puppets I saw some hand gloves with different characters of a story on each finger the kids loved those. The teachers are getting reading buddy stuffed animals or puppets that are characters in the books. What is the hot selling kids book right now?

My vaccum came with a heavy duty plastic bag to clean pillows.  It works like a vaccum bag and the pillows go flat but it sucks the dust out of the  fabric and stuffing, I never tried it on a puppet but did on stuffed animals. Also we got cheap white gloves at photo shop for puppeteers to wear to keep the puppets clean and had a NO food or drink around puppet rule to protect them.  Maybe you need to invest in some of those foam strips to put around doors to insulate to keep out the dust, it is not good for your lungs to breath particulates, you can't sew new set of lungs.

I like word balloons. If you hung it by the top side it could pivot and have a question on one side with answer on the other. I am a scientist, my lab coat has multicolored stains acid holes. I have a suggestion for that one.

"I am a scientist, I see the possiblities for success in each failure.  The stains and holes in my lab coat are proof of the progress toward the next great revelation right around the corner."

This reminds me of fun fortune cookies or cabbage patch dolls that come with character back stories. They are coming to life.

If you had a small puppet show going on it would draw attention and show people how the socks can come alive. Or maybe a video of the puppets in action. That might encourage more to buy.  Most people do not realize how wonderful a sock puppet can be until they see on in action, ignite their immagination.
