Hi all, yes, I am back... Posted in Hi all, yes, I am back... on Jun 26, 2010
Hi all, after many months of taking a break, the bug of making a new puppet has gotten to me yet again. I decided to continue on some old projects that I started last year and for now, I find that I am really rusty. But the errors I make in my puppets are at my advantage because the extra seem's on my puppets can be used in the puppet itself. Right now, I decided to take one ugly head I was making to make a pirate, filled with scar's on his skin. So far, I am having fun making him. This puppet will be a gift for a friend who has been more than patient since I started that puppet something like a year ago.

Anyway, I am glad to be back. How are you all? Is Shawn back from his production he was working on last summer? I will try to continue working on my marionnette next fall if all goes well :D

Later!

If you are on a really tight budget and are for helping the environment, why not try to recycle some old couch foam or matress foam? Its a bit more work, but it can do the job. That is what I do mostly cuz I just dont have the budget for reticulated foam.

Hi Bludolphdolph,

In my case, I have always been in love with puppets. When I was a kid, I had two dreams, it was either become a good 2D artist like the Disney crew or make puppets. I am good at drawing, that was my main way of creating when I was a kid. But I never really went into making puppets until I had my daughter 3 and a half years ago. Each time we would go into a toy store, I would have fun with her with the very few puppets there and seeing her laugh I thought to myself: hey, why not try to make my own! So I search the net again and again, gaining a bit of info here and there until I found this place by accident. In fact, I discovered the forum after watching one of Paul Louis's video on expertvillage. He was talking about his forum at puppetsNstuff, but I wrote puppetsandstuff and ended up here instead of his forum. Anyway, eversince that day I have been reading alot on the subject of puppetry and have made a few of my own. Now, this year I plan on making puppets and selling them on the net. That is pretty much my story. But even if I do make my own, I am still learning new tricks from you all everyday. So a huge thanks for Shawn and the gang for making this forum and keeping it not only alive but exciting too.

Hello to all my great fellow puppeteers,

Thanks!
Re: Anno's new clothes Posted in Anno's new clothes on Jan 16, 2010
Hi Abdolos,

Wow, great work on the clothing. Please, never excuse yourself for putting a ton of details. That is what makes it all even better and exciting. Your love for detail reminds me of one of my friends who add's a million details to his art too, but he draw's and is not into puppetry. I really love the overall look. Reminds me of some of Tim Burton's productions. I am sure that this puppet would sell for a nice price if put on the market.

Poor thing, 3 years without anything on, no wonder he looks this happy to be clothed LOL. Great job on that once again.

In a perfect world, we would have a donation booth where all puppet makers from around the world would donate supplies and funds for people who struggle in their work like Michele. But unfortunately, we do not live in such a world. If I can finish my current puppet quickly and am able to make enough money, maybe I will be able to send her a few items. Right now, I barely have enough for myself, but who knows maybe someday I will be able to help her just like she has helped me a few years ago when I first needed help.

Note to Michele (just in case she can see this):
Michele, you were one of the first one to help me when I first started my journey in puppetry and I hope and pray that all will be ok for you this year and that 2010 will be the best year of your life (both personnal and profesionnal wise). I do hope that you will find tons of donated items and tons of ideas. I may not be able to offer you materials and/or money, but I can offer my prayers and if you need me, a good shoulder to cry on when need be. If you want, email me and I will respond as quickly as possible. I will even give you my snail mail addy if you need a good penpal to vent to. Until then, take care sweety. You will be in my prayers everyday.
Puppet hug.

Awesome puppet always Jay, you are so good at this particular style. I did try some of your techniques, but the result is really not as good. I guess practice makes perfect. But I am wondering, I do remember that you are the one who send me the plastic egg I used in my latest Matilda puppet and I was wondering where you purchased these egg's? I would love to get some for my next puppet.
Re: Antron Anouncement Posted in Antron Anouncement on Jan 07, 2010
Well, there is puppet-mart that does offer good prices I think. $14.95 per yard for a minimum of 4 yards. If not, its $15.95 per single yard.
