It looks similar to one of Folkmanis's hanging monkeys.

Does it have velcro on the hands and feet?
Here are some other options.

You are very creative, talented and resourceful! Some of your shot set ups are so unique and interesting. I was going to say "for someone your age" but even if you where an old fart like me I would be impressed. The fact that you are younger and just venturing into this field just tells me that you are going to go very far with this. Don't forget use when you become famous.
Who played Jack in your school project? Was that you? Good job on the impersonation and look. I do hope you got a good grade on it and that the other students like it.

Re: Size of shadow puppets Posted in Size of shadow puppets on Oct 19, 2009
Your puppets should be fine in this size venue. Shadow puppets would most likely be about the same. The Lion King shadows are between 1-3 feet/0.3048 - 0.9144 meters in height. I build marionettes for stages of that size and that are just around the 3 feet/ 0.9144 meters.
Re: Puppet Copy for Posters and Flyers Posted in Puppet Copy for Posters and Flyers on Oct 16, 2009
For some reason I had thought that I replied to this thread already. Copy is not one of my strong points. I know that it is important when it comes to the internet since that is one thing that can get you listed correctly in the search engines. I don't know of any place that gives you references for this about the best thing is to look at other sites and learn from what they are doing. Perhaps if you approach it from a web masters point of view and start with keywords. While I know that SE's don't put as much emphasis on them in the head anymore I do think they are a good way to get started in thinking about the content you might want to use. I would be somewhat like making an outline. As I am writing this I realized that you said posters and flyers but the concepts still apply I think.
I would like to point out to others that you are doing all the right things when it comes to promoting yourself on the web. Look at Rosie's signature folks. See all those sites. Have you noticed that many of then are to web services on the web? Sites like wordpress.com and flickr.com and even etsy.com have large user bases already. By using them or posting on them you increase your chances that you'll get noticed. Rosie has also found a site that is specific to puppetry (Puppets and Stuff) and become an active member. She has used the profile here and her signature to help promote herself. This is a good thing! Now I don't want you to simply go out there and join sites and post your info then never go back. That is likely to be seen as spam and be deleted. You need to be an active member. Not only does it help you out in the automatic system of search engines but it gets you seen by real people that see you posting and get to know you.
Sorry Rosie, didn't mean to hijack your question but thought it was important to point out. I bet as a web master you can ad even more details and ideas in this area.

Re: First Youtube videos!!!!! Posted in First Youtube videos!!!!! on Oct 15, 2009
Your manipulation of Nicky is great! You have the voice down also. I kept wondering in the second video why your friend looks almost blue. Then when you did the improve it all kind of made sense. Your improve skills are good. I know the first video didn't really "go" anywhere but It shows that you are comfortable with the charecter and manipulation of the puppet. Pretty impressive that you manipulated Nicky and handled the video camera at the same time. Keep those videos comeing.

Re: 99 Acre Contest! Posted in 99 Acre Contest! on Oct 07, 2009
Both ideas sound like a winner to me Jay. Well you be looking for just the design of the puppet or are you going to want a back story for them also? Would the person have to draw the design or could they perhaps supply a composite of images that you could base the puppet off of? I am just thinking that like Gav a person might have some good ideas but not really be able to submit them in drawings.
Alot of puppeteers have started doing the "video thing" over at blogTV so I think you could get quite a few takers on the second idea.

Looks good. She reminds me of Janis Joplin for some reason. Maybe it is just the long straight hair.
