Shawn Sorrell

I am the owner of Puppets and Stuff. I created the site back in 2000 as a resource for puppets and it has changed quite a bit over the years. The change in November of 2019 was a big one and I hope you'll all bear with me as I redevelop the site. I started as a puppeteer back when I was a kid. I had some store made puppets but wanted more unique characters so I started making my own. Back then there where not a lot of resources out there and what you could find was mainly in book form at the library. So that is what I did I checked out books and read them to teach my self how it was done. After I graduated from high school I was lucky enough to get a summer job with La Famille Marionettes as a summer gig at our local theme park. That developed into an apprenticeship of sorts with Dolores Hadley the owner of the company. I would work with her during the winter building the show for the next summer. I struck out on my own for a while traveling around the country doing shows at Renaissance festivals but eventually ended up back in Kansas City and started working with Stone Lion Puppet Theatre as their master puppeteer. I've gotten away from puppetry in the last 15 years and now work primarily in the theater wardrobe industry. I still maintain this site for other puppeteers and from time to time consult or work on special puppet projects.
